INMAAC (RCIA) INMAACC / RCIA
Introducing New Members to the African American Catholic Church or INMAACC is designed to give a general overview of the history of the church , to provided detailed information that will assist in understanding the Catholic Church from an africentric perspective, and to build a foundation for the formation of members in the Catholic Church.
The INMAACC program is divided into 7 steps based on the 7 principles of Kwanzaa.
I. The Church - Kujichagulia (Self-Determination)II. Church Order - UMOJA (Unity)
Reviews the different levels of Church structure beginning with the local parish and moving out to the Church in Rome. This movement will show how the different groups work together to spread the teachings of Jesus.
III. Spirituality - IMANI (Faith)
Focuses on the value of faith as revealed in prayer and scripture while developing a strong personal spirituality which is shared with others. Encourages a strong commitment to Jesus and to our Faith Community.
IV. Ministry - NIA (Purpose)
Focuses on the value of faith as revealed in prayer and scripture while developing a strong personal spirituality which is shared with others. Encourages a strong commitment to Jesus and to our Faith Community.
V. Empowerment - UJIMA (Collective Work and Responsibility)
Reviews the various ministries of the African American Catholic Community and challenges everyone to put their faith into action. Encourages persons to develop ways to respond to community and parish needs.
VI. Justice - UJAMA (Cooperative Economics)
Familiarizing participants with the teachings of justice and peace in the Bible and connects them with the struggles of African Americans and other cultural groups. They will discuss why Catholic Social Teachings on Peace, Justice and Liberation are our best kept secret.
VII. Celebration - KUUMBA (Creativity)
There will be three celebrations during the program:
Welcome – An introduction of the participants and greetings from the parish community. This will include prayer, song, and food.
Mid-way – A prayer of Thanksgiving and a sharing of our gifts and vision for the future.
Ending – Kwanzaa and Pentecost Services to highlight our gifts and talents and discuss ways they can be used to build our spiritual family.
