ARCHBISHOP KURTZ- Prayer Sevice/Tree of Remembrance

Prayer Service and Lighting of the Tree of Remembrance Please join Archbishop Kurtz and the staff of Catholic Cemeteries on Thursday, December 1 for the first annual prayer service and lighting of the Tree of Remembrance. The service will begin at 6:45 p.m. (gates will open at 6 p.m.) and will conclude with refreshments. This prayer service will take place at Calvary Cemetery, 1600 Newburg Road. Through the Tree of Remembrance, Catholic Cemeteries will remember, honor, and celebrate the life of your loved one by inviting you to place an ???in memory of??? ornament during the month of December. We extend this opportunity to everyone who mourns the loss of a family member or friend, regardless of when or where the person was buried. You can bring your own ornaments or request a personalized complimentary ornament at the cemetery. Ornaments will remain on the tree until January 6, 2017. If you cannot attend this prayer service, you can come by the Cemetery office anytime during regular business hours to request an ornament.

30th Annual African American Catholic Leadership Awards Dinner

30th Annual African American Catholic Leadership Awards Dinner The Archdiocese of Louisville's Office of Multicultural Ministry will host its 30th Annual African American Catholic Leadership Awards Dinner on Saturday, March 11, 2017, 6:00 p.m. at the Galt House Hotel, 140 North Fourth Street, Louisville, KY 40202. A Silent Auction will begin at 5:00 p.m. The purpose of this awards banquet is to recognize African American Catholic leadership within the Archdiocese of Louisville. All proceeds from this event will go towards a scholarship fund that assists African American Catholic youth with secondary and post-secondary education. Youth scholarships will be given to young men and women who have demonstrated leadership in their church and school communities. Adults will be recognized for their leadership in the African American Catholic community. How do you prepare for the banquet? You nominate individuals that you feel are worthy of recognition. There are three categories: 1. Adults 2. 12th grade Youth 3. 8th grade Youth What do you need in order to nominate a person? 1. A Nomination Packet (the packet MUST be signed by your pastoral leader or your PLT & formation chairs). They will be available in the next two weeks. 2. Two letters of support (The nominee???s name MUST NOT appear in the body of the letter). The complete nomination packet (including the signed nomination form and the two letters of support) will need to be turned into OMM by Tuesday, November 29, 2016. Our Lady of Kibeho Crowning Celebration

Our Lady of Kibeho Crowning Celebration The Archdiocese of Louisville???s Office of Multicultural Ministry will host a celebration commemorating the 1st apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Kibeho, Rwanda (East Africa) with the Our Lady of Kibeho Crowning Celebration. The event will take place on Sunday, December 11, 2016, at 2:00 p.m., St. Thomas More Catholic Church located at 6105 South Third Street, Louisville, KY 40214. Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz, D.D. will preside over the celebration. Our Lady of Kibeho is a title of Marian apparitions which appeared to several adolescents, in the 1980s in Kibeho, in south-western Rwanda. The apparitions communicated various messages to the schoolchildren, including an apocalyptic vision of Rwanda descending into violence and hatred, foretelling the 1994 Rwandan Genocide. In 2001, the Catholic Church officially recognized the visions of three schoolchildren as authentic. For further details, please call the Office of Multicultural Ministry at (502)471-2146.

Lady of Guadalupe Celebration The Archdiocese of Louisville???s Office of Multicultural Ministry will observe the feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe offering two celebrations this year. The schedule is as follows: Sunday, December 12, 2016: Mass 5:00 a.m. Location: Church of the Epiphany - 917 Old Harrods Creek Road, Louisville, KY 40223 Sunday, December 12, 2016: Mass 7:00 p.m. Location: Our Lady of Mercy - 208 Walters Avenue, Hodgenville, KY 42748 Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz, D.D. will be the celebrant of the Holy Mass at both locations. Our Lady of Guadalupe, also known as the Virgin of Guadalupe (Virgen de Guadalupe) and the patron of the Americas, is a 16th century apparition of the Virgin Mary which appeared to Juan Diego Cuauhtlatoatzin on the hill of Tepeyac near Mexico City from December 9 through December 12, 1531. *Red Mass at the Cathedral of the Assumption- September 22, 2016 at 12 noon. The Red Mass is a Mass of the Holy Spirit invoking God???s blessing and guidance to all those in the legal profession. It is a Roman Catholic Mass, but a warm invitation is extended to all those working in the legal profession.
