Ministry Purpose: Each coordinating committee implements the Parish Pastoral Council’s goals and priorities in its own area of responsibility. Council and Committees work together to accomplish the parish’s mission.
- Administration:
Role is to coordinate parish finances and budget, stewardship, fund raising, facilities and properties.
- Altar Servers:
The altar servers are present to assists the pastor and the congregation at the Eucharistic celebration. This ministry is open to both male and female youth who have completed the fourth grade level of school. A special training process is required. Parental cooperation is expected.
- Bereavement Ministry:
Bereavement ministry offers support to family members who have experienced the loss of a loved one. This ministry offers consolation through prayer, cards and visits.
- Eucharistic Ministers:
Most worshipers find receiving Holy Communion as an essential part of full participation in the Eucharist. Lay members of the church, who assist the priest and deacon with administering the of communion at Eucharistic liturgies and assist with bringing communion to the sick and homebound. Eucharistic ministers are required to attend special instructional meetings.
- Evangelization and Outreach: involves coordinating activities / efforts pertaining to spreading the Good News within and outside of the Faith Community of St. Martin de Porres, as well as spearheading opportunities for growth. (eg., Knights of Peter Claver and Lady’s Auxiliary)
- Family Life: Role involves coordinating and responding to Family Formation (eg., bereavement, support groups, elderly, marriage, single life, respect life, etc.).
- Formation: Role is to coordinate all efforts that pertain to the whole Christian person. Committee is advisory in the design, implementation and evaluation of educational /formational programs of the parish, which include: sacramental preparation, adult and youth and young adult ministry.
- Liturgical Dancers:
The liturgical dancers lead the congregation in a spirit of worship and praise. They may sometimes open the Eucharistic liturgical celebration with a dance. They also provide mediation movements after partaking in Eucharist.
- Ministers of the Word (Lectors):
A lector is one who proclaims the Word of God during the Eucharistic liturgy. Prayerful preparation before the liturgy is essential to assure that the role is accomplished in a manner that allows the Word to be heard by the congregation. As ministers of the Word, they are required to attend special instructional meetings.
- Music Ministry:
The music ministry is an integral part of our worship service on Sunday mornings. It is a ministry that reaches the deepest recesses of the human heart. The music ministry assists the worshippers in singing and praising God. The music ministry is open to any parishioner who is interested in participating.
- Service: Role is to coordinate physical, and social activities within and beyond the parish (eg., coordinating community-building functions of the parish such as support groups, hospitality, and parish celebrations).
- Worship: Role is to foster growth by providing the faith community with prayer and liturgical experiences, and to nourish and deepen a fruitful liturgical life of the parish.
